When
I lay in bed at night, unable to sleep, staring into the great
chasmatic maw of the artistic void awaiting the thrust of the
muse, it is comforting to think that Mozart meant those words
as complementary. In any case it is a testament to his genius
and vision that he was able to foresee, over 200 years ago, the
emergence of the drifting melodies and punctuated rhythms of this
turn-of-the-millennium trio.
